Extra Life Charity Passes $13,000,000 Milestone for 2019

While gamers and video games love to get a bad rap from politicians in the press, if there’s one thing we’re good at, it’s raising money for good causes. Whether it’s something like “Games Done Quick“, (The largest fundraising event globally for Doctors Without Borders, and the Prevent Cancer foundation.) “Gamers for Giving“, (They help provide entertainment devices to hospitalized children.) “Extra Life“, (A fundraiser helping to raise money for your local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals) or any of the various other gaming related fund raisers out there, a boat load of gamers throw their money at good causes every year to try to help change lives.

As of three hours ago, Extra Life noted on their twitter and facebook accounts, that the 2019 Extra Life campaign has just crossed the $13,000,000 threshold. How significant is this? For reference, at this point last year, Extra Life was sitting at $11,524,691 going into November 19th. So far this year, the charity has raised over 11% more than the previous year, and already 18% more than the entirety of 2017.  In 2011, Extra life had raised $1,000,000 for the Children Miracle Network Hospitals.  Just 8 years later, they have raised over $50,000,00 total, and the last 3 years in a row have raised over $10,000,000 each year, beating the previous year each time.   While passing this awesome milestone, there’s still a month and a half left of fundraising to go.  Here’s hoping they can reach the $14,000,000 milestone.
