Man, considering the limited amount of notable titles currently out for Nintendo Switch, it sure is whooping some major ass in the sales department. Granted, Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the Mario Kart have both sold over 4 Million copies, and Splatoon 2 sold over 3 million copies, but after that, no other game for the Switch has sold more than 2 million copies according to Nintendo’s website. Despite this, the most recent financial information from Nintendo also reported that their Nintendo Switch consoles has sold a whopping 7.63 million consoles, during it’s first six months of sales. The report they released had sales information updated up to 9/30/17, so you can imagine by now, they’ve probably broken 8 million consoles sold. For some perspective, during it’s first six months, the PS4 sold 7 million consoles, and the Xbox one had shipped 5 million consoles to retailers. On top of this, the Nintendo Switch is currently outpacing PS4 sales by a wide margin in Japan, according to a report from Forbes.
Around the corner in 2018 we can look forward to a new Square Enix RPG exclusive to the Switch, a new game from the No More Heroes franchise, a new Yoshi title,a new Kirby title, Metroid Prime 4, possibly an original Pokemon RPG for the Switch, a new Shin Megami Tensei RPG, and many more original IP’s that are exclusive to the Switch. With all that’s coming up, I can’t imagine the Switch slowing down any time soon.
